Local SEO in India: get found where your customers look.

From Google Maps to local citations, this is the practical groundwork for a business serving customers in person. Start with accurate details, not more city pages.

The order matters

Four foundations. No shortcuts.

01

Start with an eligible location

Google Business Profile is for businesses that serve customers face to face during stated hours, at a location or at the customer's location. If your operation is online-only, focus on your website and other suitable listings instead. Never create a profile for a virtual office or a city you only serve remotely.

02

Make the profile useful

Claim an existing profile before creating another. Use the real-world business name, the most accurate primary category, genuine service areas, current hours and photos of your actual work or premises. Link to the relevant page on your site; don't pack city names into the business name.

03

Clean up citations

Audit every place your business is listed. Keep the official name, real address where public, phone, website and hours consistent. Correct outdated listings and avoid duplicate profiles. Prioritise directories that customers in your category actually use over mass submissions.

04

Earn trust, then measure

Ask actual customers for honest reviews without incentives, reply to feedback, and publish location-specific information that helps people choose. Track qualified calls, form enquiries and directions separately: clicks and requests are not completed sales or visits.

Local citations

Choose relevant listings, not a directory count.

Before you submit, confirm your official name, a working contact number, website and the address or service area you can truthfully use. These are places to review, not listings we claim to have created for Adservex.

A citation only helps when it reflects the real business. Never list a remote service area as a staffed branch.

Local content

Make each location page worth visiting.

Describe what you actually offer in that city: relevant services, customer questions, delivery radius and a clear way to enquire. Link to your primary service page and show real work where you have permission to share it.

For example, a Mumbai shop might explain its neighbourhood coverage and pickup options. An agency serving clients remotely across India should say that plainly rather than imply a walk-in office in every metro.

Connect your page to the verified business profile when eligible. Keep contact details consistent, use descriptive headings and monitor enquiries from that page. A ranking position is useful context, but real leads are the measure.
